ABOUT ANDREA

Art Career/ EDUCATION

While in high school and college, I was the only designer for a small hometown company, HAMCO, Inc. Before I graduated from Louisiana State University with a BFA/ Graphic Design Major, the company was purchased by Crown Crafts, Inc, a leading soft goods manufacturer. As the company grew to be one of the largest infant and juvenile product manufacturers in the USA, my role within the company grew as well. My career with Crown Crafts was focused on juvenile trend forecasting, designing and manufacturing youthful home market product collections for our own brands and also private label brands for major US and Canada retailers. I also worked with many licensors like Cheerios, Disney, Oshkosh, Carters, Zutano, Wendy Bellissimo, Hello Kitty, Nautica Kids, Jonathan Adler and Petunia Pickle Bottom.

After 22 dedicated years to a company very dear to my heart, I took a big jump in 2016 and started my own freelance design studio, ADA Designs, for continued artistic growth and creative freedom. I am currently freelancing for clients I have met throughout my career whom already are familiar with my work. I am also signed with Group Four Design Studios in New York, USA where my surface pattern designs are for sale. Recently I started taking the "Make it in Design/ The Art and Business of Surface Pattern Design" courses to continue my design education, spark my creativity and learn more about Surface & Textile Design as one day I would love to have my art licensed throughout many markets.

Personal

I am married to my high school sweetheart, Chris, and mother of an adventurous young man, Brendan, who also married his high school sweetheart, Kathryn in 2023. In 2015 my husband and I decided to focus on our dream of both retiring early from our corporate careers to do what we love. We decided to downsize from the city and move to the middle of nowhere. We purchased 28 acres with a tiny farm house from the 1940's that needed (and still needs) a lot of TLC in Holden, Louisiana. Every day has been hard work and a true journey of discovery! Back then, our son named our home, The No-Nothing Ranch, because there ISN'T a lot of "nothing" going on. (He's was a funny kid! Still is!) Although our afternoons and weekends are always packed with renovations, property upkeep, and farm chores we are less stressed than before. There's a peacefulness within the singing birds, taking a walk around the pond or through the woods, and sitting by the fire pit with a glass of wine after a hard days work. In the summer of 2016, we added six LaMancha milk goats to our ranch. They are the funniest creatures and give us lots of laughs. In 2019 our little ranch became an actual farm as our little herd continues to grow and so does our Earless Goat Milk Soap adventure.

I feel so blessed I am able to continue to design from my very own studio overlooking our pond. My head and heart feel so clear, free and ready to create beautiful things!
